savas pascalidis releases heavy new ep brain waves on atrophic society savas pascalidis is an artist who needs little in the way of introduction. having a career that spans the last 25 years, and releases on a staggering number of great labels (gigolo records, kurbel, non series, mote evolver, stockholm ltd, children of tommorow, skudge, figure and many more), were proud to welcome savas to the atrophic society family. brain waves sees further exploration of the techno that defines savas� sound. savage, grooving and dripping in nuance, all four cuts on this ep will set the night on fire. distant dreams is a tunnelling beast that twists and turns over itself with insistent percussive slaps and grooving bass, underpinning a driving synth line that stacks up to create a furious ep opener. there were no parts to work from to make a remix with, so in a total class move echologist drops a cover mix of the b1 track resonate, though it could be said that it�s inspired by all the original tracks on the ep. he strips it back to the bare necessities and propels it forward in true echologist style. the original of resonate is noisey and blustery as the title would suggest, hissing and bleeping over a mid range bassline that tastefully peaks and troughs for the length of the journey. finally, rounding out the ep in total class, subminimal crescendo�s with layers of noise and delay over a funk-fuelled rhythm. all four tracks on this forward thinking ep for atrophic society are essential machine-made music and an outstanding addition to savas body of work.

a true balearic classic. one of a handful of records that can comfortably boast this title, elkin & nelson�s 1979 classic jibaro sits in the canon of selections that enlightened the ears of the jet-set and globe trotting music fanatics in the heady and much storied years of the white isle in the 1980�s. the colombian brothers javier and leon marin velez brought their own rustic brand of folksy-rock-psychedelia to the listening public in 1974 with their debut lp angeles y demonios on columbia records. the brothers had relocated to spain, snared a major label deal and ran with it. the first of 3 lps it proved a big hit in later years with adventurous dj�s and selectors. a cult record you might say. of course, this lp featured jibaro in all it�s forms, but it is this 1986 reissue 12� promo pressing with its iconic, distinctive jacket that was the coveted slab sonic adventurers were seeking. fully sanctioned and legitimately remastered from the original sources and packaged in its original columbia promo sleeve jibaro is back on the shelves, still an incredible record that gets pulled by the most discerning selectors across the globe. a true classic, featured here in its long and short versions as per the �86 release. absolute top-shelf stuff here, essential, must own and classic.

the underdogg is the title of dj tre�s debut ep for hyperdub. he had two brilliant tracks featured on our dj rashad tribute compilation next life, but compared to other longterm members of the teklife footwork crew, he hasn�t released much, so we�re very happy to bring him out to play again here. tre has been about since the early days, born and raised on the south side of chicago. encouraged by the late dj rashad and his partner dj spinn, he has been making tracks since 1999, over a decade before footwork�s ascent to global popularity. on this ep his sound, for the most part is rooted in the speedy 4/4 of juke. it features a sparse and minimalist take on footwork but he�s got a knack of adding in tight little switches and details that keep the tracks moving as essential dance floor weapons.

following on from his intimate entry into the dj-kicks mix series, lone is putting out a vinyl only ep of all the unreleased tracks from it. the horizontal mix tapped into all of lones influences, from hip-hop to house, idm to techno. it also showcased some producers signed to his own magic wire label, and of course the back bone was built from some of the nottingham mans freshest new productions. they come after celebrated releases on werk discs, r&s and dekmantel, and include dance floor aligned eps and more rounded full lengths designed for close listening. here he sits in between the two across three thrilling cuts. opener �saturday night is a breezy bit of deep house with crisp boom-baps and swirling pads that lend it a dreamy, ethereal feel. spoken word snippets are stitched into the groove and the whole thing is as frictionless and feel good as house comes. next up, �arc is a little more direct, with scattered snares flapping over dry wooden kicks. its a punchy bit of house latest dj-kicks mix star kerri chandler would be proud, and comes overlaid with spring time flutes and luscious pads as a classically inclined bassline powers things along. last but not least is �alpha wheel 4 (ambient mix), a kaleidoscopic passage of suspensory sound scuffed up glassy surfaces trapping you in rays of refracted light from start to finish. all three tracks exhibit lones authentic, lived in and lo-fi aesthetic, and as a result slip perfectly into his ever more essential discography.

ansome returns to perc trax for his first original release since his debut album �stowaway� was released on the label in april 2016. since then he has extensively toured europe and north and south america with his ever changing modular live set as well as further establishing his south london analogue material imprint with a run of uncompromising releases.
despite decamping to berlin last year �british steel� shows there is still a no nonsense uk grittiness to ansome�s music. the frenetic rhythms reflect the pressure and paranoia of london life and for the first time his music incorporates vocals, thanks to the voice of occasional live collaborator oliver kohlenberg.
the four tracks take in everything from broken grooves to straight up dance floor face melters with a perfect balance of rhythm and texture. �poison your body� has been a highlight of perc�s recent dj sets for months now, whilst �marching powder� was featured on rebekah�s debut essential mix for bbc radio.

east end dubs has been bumping around the london club scene and beyond for many years now so it was only natural that the prolific producers next ep should appear on infuse. mind traps ep has all the hallmarks of a classic eed release bumping tech grinders for those groovier dance floors. as featured on enzo siragusa s essential mix. vinyl only!

the delsin re-issue arm turns its attention to lost trax. this ep features four cuts taken from two different eps, the saturnian system and lost trax 2 from 2006 and 2010 respectively. saturnian system opens the ep with some acid laced electro slickness. fluttering snares and spacey synths carry it away into the cosmos, then the sequel gets much busier. scurrying lines dart about in manic but funky fashion, with serene pads off setting the high energy drums. self destruct sequence then drops into an urgent, slippery electronic groove riddled with squelchy sounds and rubbery bass all perfectly orchestrated. last of all, birth is a nimble electronic house cut with plaintive synths and kinetic drums that wiggle and wriggling through the night sky. this is an ep stuffed with timeless sounds and is another essential reissue from delsin.
